Free Wexner Center Family Day Filled with Activities Inspired by William Wegman Exhibition

The Wexner Center will host a free Family Day on Sunday, September 23 in conjunction with the exhibition William Wegman: Funney/Strange. This event, intended especially for ages 4 to 13, will be filled with lively workshops and activities that will allow families to explore and dig deeper into Wegman’s artistic methods. Hundreds of children and their families are expected to attend.

THE EVENT: William Wegman: Funney/Strange Family Day at the Wexner Center features a variety of activities, including 30-minute, interactive, docent-led tours; a postcard picture workshop; “funney” photography; and animal storybook workshops. Families can view a performance by Ohio State graduate dance students inspired by animal movements at 11 am, 1 pm, and 3 pm. Robert Post will perform his comedy theater shorts for the whole family at noon and 2 pm. And families can enjoy a selection of short films by Wegman, including films he created in the 1960s and ’70s for Sesame Street and Saturday Night Live. Cam’s on Campus—the Wexner Center’s café—will offer family-friendly lunch offerings throughout the day, and Jeni’s Ice Creams will be scooping free ice cream from 12:30 to 2:30 pm.

DATE AND TIME: Sunday, September 23. Wexner Center members and donors only: 11 am – 1 pm. General public 1 – 4 pm.

LOCATION: Wexner Center for the Arts, 1871 N. High St. at 15th Ave. on the campus of The Ohio State University.

ADMISSION: Free.

PARKING: Ohio Union Garage just south of the Wexner Center (alternate parking is available at South Campus Gateway garage, a few blocks south of the Wexner Center between 9th and 11th avenues). The COTA #2 bus also stops right in front of the Wexner Center, on High Street at 15th.
