At its meeting on October 16, 2007, the Wexner Center Foundation board appointed two new trustees: Elizabeth Kessler of the law firm Jones Day and James Lyski of Nationwide.
As a partner at the Columbus office of the global law firm Jones Day, Elizabeth (Liza) Kessler practices primarily in the area of product liability, as well as in employment claims and antitrust matters. She is a member of the Ohio Bar and the United States District Court for the Southern District of Ohio, and a Fellow of the Columbus Bar Foundation. Kessler also participates as a mentor at The Ohio State University’s Moritz College of Law. Her community involvement includes serving on the board of trustees for Planned Parenthood of Central Ohio as immediate past chair of the board, and as a Franklin County Commissioner appointee to Veterans Memorial board. She has also served as a Leadership Committee member for the Columbus School for Girls and is a past member of the Columbus Metropolitan Club board.
Kessler received a B.G.S. at the University of Michigan and a J.D. from The Ohio State University. Her mother, Charlotte P. Kessler, recently stepped down from the Wexner Center Foundation board.
As executive vice president and chief marketing officer for Nationwide (one of the world’s largest insurance and financial services organizations, based in Columbus), James Lyski is responsible for corporate marketing, brand management, advertising, and communications for all Nationwide companies. Lyski previously served as senior vice president for strategy, product, and marketing at CIGNA HealthCare, Inc., and has also been vice president for U.S. marketing at FedEx. Lyski graduated from the University of Oregon with an M.B.A. and a bachelor’s degree in journalism.
Notes Leslie H. Wexner, chair of the Wexner Center Foundation board of trustees, “Liza and Jim are both committed to enhancing the cultural vitality of Columbus, and they recognize the important role the art center plays in attracting and retaining young talent in the city. We’re delighted to welcome them to the table.”
