Producer Christine Vachon to Introduce Bob Dylan Film I’m Not There at Wexner Center December 3

In a special event featuring the film’s producer, the Wexner Center presents I’m Not There—the unconventional, critically acclaimed film about Bob Dylan—on Monday, December 3 at 7 pm. Christine Vachon, the film’s producer, will introduce and discuss the screening.

Directed by Todd Haynes (Far From Heaven, Safe), this biopic of Bob Dylan features six different actors portraying Dylan, including Richard Gere, Heath Ledger, and Cate Blanchett, who won the Best Actress award at the Venice Film Festival for this role. This description, though, doesn’t truly convey what Haynes is really up to in what is one of the year’s most complex and thought-provoking American films. Tickets are $10 for the general public and $8 for Wexner Center members and students, and will be available to Wexner Center members and students only starting Monday, October 8. Both Todd Haynes and Christine Vachon have a long history with the Wexner Center. Both were the recipient of a Media Arts Residency Award in the 1995–96 season, producing a collaborative video piece for the galleries. Both have been the focus of a Wexner Center retrospective of their work, and both participated in onstage conversations as part of those retrospectives (with Vachon introducing and discussing The Notorious Bettie Page, which had its area premiere here and sold out the house). Vachon is co-founder of the highly influential Killer Films, a consistently adventurous force in American independent film production.
