Slideluck Potshow, an event that combines a family-style potluck dinner with a slideshow of work by artists from around the state, is coming to the Wexner Center on Friday, August 3 at 6:30 pm in Mershon Auditorium. The evening’s first course is a potluck dinner with home-cooked delights brought by the viewers and participants themselves. Then comes the main course: a juried digital “slideshow” consisting of a series of short multimedia presentations by close to two dozen contributors ranging from the very accomplished to the up-and-coming. A call for entries was sent out earlier this summer.
Photographers, painters, sculptors, photojournalists, digital artists—amateur and professional alike—sent their digital slides for consideration, which will result in a diverse final presentation. Dinner and beverages will be served at 6:30 pm in the lobby of Mershon Auditorium, with the slideshow starting around 8 pm in Mershon Auditorium. Admission is free.
Slideluck Potshow is a nonprofit organization that mounts presentations several times a year in New York, and has recently begun to take the concept on the road—to Chicago, Los Angeles, Berlin, and other cities. The last Slideluck in New York attracted 800 people. “What began as an under-the-radar happening soon carved out its own little niche in the art world, glazed with a hipster sheen,” wrote the New York Times. And participants “came bearing sticky rice with sweet Cambodian sausage, peanut soba noodles and carrot-ginger soup.” More information on Slideluck Potshow available at www.wexarts.org/slideluck or at www.slideluckpotshow.com.
