Premieres, Commissioned Work, Visiting Filmmakers, and More

The Wexner Center announces its winter and spring events for the 2010. Just a few of the highlights:

The kickoff of Merce Cunningham Dance Company’s The Legacy Tour February 12 in the Wexner Center’s Mershon Auditorium—appropriate given that the late, great Cunningham received the Wexner Prize in 1993 (and also performed here with his company during our first season).

The sports-centric Hard Targets exhibition in the winter, plus a major exhibition featuring the dazzling canvases and multimedia work (including newly commissioned work) by Los Angeles artist Mark Bradford—in a show that will be touring major museums around the country after its premiere here.

A new video and theater work (think Hitchcock and Rope) by acclaimed director Reid Farrington, which will have its world premiere here in March.

A visit by storied director Peter Bogdanovich, introducing a film and discussing his career January 16 as part of a two-day mini-tribute.

A Director’s Dialogue panel discussion March 31 focused on climate change, bringing together artists and scientists from around the world.

The return of Cinema Latino in January and Out@Wex (GLBT film fest) in March, and a new series all about food—Field & Screen—in February. Plus, the Wex is tripling the number film screens at its disposal with the addition of two screens programmed by the Wex at Gateway Film Center in South Campus Gateway starting in early January.

Off the Grid, a GenWex bash—a feast for all the senses—April 10.
