Alleviating Poverty Through Entrepreneurship Summit 2011 (APTE)

The APTE Summit 2011 at The Ohio State University will bring together students and community members to connect with each other and learn about market-based approaches to solving poverty.

The summit will feature local, national, and international speakers with a theme that places the magnifying glass over innovation in health-care, education, and energy sectors and how this innovation can alleviate poverty both globally and locally.

Speakers this year range from the cofounder of Kiva, Jessica Jackley, to dynamic individuals from P&G’s Children’s Safe Drinking Water Program, Nuru International, Energize Clinton County, Ashoka, The Satter Program for Social Entrepreneurship at NYU, and many more.

We want people to realize that poverty alleviation is not achieved by merely donating money, food, and supplies, but is instead created through carefully planned, researched, and implemented solutions. We are in the business of innovating on poverty alleviation.

The best part? This TED-esque conference is absolutely free to attend and open to the public, thanks to the $30,000 that the student team has raised.
