Screening Belief

Distinguished theoritician Mark C. Taylor discusses his recent research about faith in the postmodern age.

Mark C. Taylor is the author of books on subjects ranging from religion and philosophy to science and technology. His recent work draws on complexity studies, information theory, and theoretical biology to develop a new interpretation of our belief in symbols and myths. As the lines separating the mental, biological, and technological dimensions of experience disappear, he argues that is necessary to rethink the multiple levels on which cultural systems operate. Taylor's lecture here will expand on these ideas and more, bringing together the discourses of the arts, humanities, and sciences to create a comprehensive account of belief.
