Free Workshop for Teachers

Join us on Capital Day to cultivate visual and media literacy skills that will help you and your students understand the arts of social commentary, persuasion, and propaganda.

How do politicians win your vote and how do commercial ads snag your money? We'll discuss these questions as well as ways that students can make their voices heard. In this two-day, hands-on workshop (Friday and Saturday), you'll explore tools and techniques and find out about artists who use images and words within a social context and in public forums. Participants will collaborate on an original work that will be installed and documented in a public space. To register, call (614) 292-6493 or e-mail edweb@wexarts.org. (Proof of participation certificates will be provided for workshop participants.)
