Erica Levin, assistant professor in Ohio State’s History of Art Department, will speak to the ethos of experimentation at Black Mountain College, particularly as it shaped the faculty’s diverse (and sometimes contradictory) approaches to form, materials, and community living. Levin specializes in multidisciplinary connections between avant-garde film, art, and performance. She is currently writing a book on painters who experimented with filmmaking in the 1960s. Levin holds a PhD in film and media studies from the University of California, Berkeley.
