G. James Daichendt - The Street Art Revolution: from Kenny Scharf to Shepard Fairey

Daichendt is the author of multiple books on street art, including Shepard Fairey Inc.: Artist/Professional/Vandal (2014); Stay Up!: Los Angeles Street Art (2012); and the upcoming Kenny Scharf: In Absence of Myth (October, 2016). He currently serves as professor of Art History and Dean of the College of Arts and Humanities at Point Loma Nazarene University.

Street art has is arguably the most culturally relevant visual art movement since Pop Art. From the back of street signs to corporate boardrooms, the influence of its practitioners and visibility of their work have grown quickly and show no signs of slowing down. Taking cues from graffiti culture, the genre has stretched far beyond stencils and wheat pastes in the public square to become a new way of thinking about the art world and an alternative way to engage it.
