Internationally renowned South African novelist J. M. Coetzee reads from his recent work.

Internationally renowned South African novelist J. M. Coetzee is the first author in the 31-year history of the Booker Prize to win the prestigious award twice. He won in 1983, for his novel Life and Times of Michael K, and in 1999, for his most recent novel, Disgrace. Coetzee has published seven other novels; a memoir, Boyhood: Scenes From Provincial Life; and several essay collections. He has won many other literary prizes, including the Lannan Award for Fiction, the Jerusalem Prize, and The Irish Times International Fiction Prize. He is currently professor of general literature at the University of Cape Town.
