Prof. John E. Davidson, director of Ohio State's Program in Film Studies, discusses projections of modernism after the Nazis in this inaugural lecture presented by the program. The talk is drawn from his current book project, tentatively titled Cinema, Cars, Calling: The (Auto-)Mobilizing of Work in German Film. In addition to his work with the film studies program, Davidson is an associate professor in the Department of Germanic Languages and Literatures. The Program in Film Studies, founded in 2005, draws together the teaching and research expertise of recognized scholars from almost a dozen university departments. In part the program fills the gap left by the abolition of the university's Department of Photography and Cinema in the early 1990s. Stay after the lecture for a reception in the café.
