Hear New York-based author Kathryn Harrison read from The Mother Knot: A Memoir, a dark gem of a book examining her complex relationship with her mother. In this book (Random House, 2004), Harrison chronicles a journey through depression to greater understanding, acceptance, freedom, and love. Her spare, unflinching account is both courageous and compelling, as in her previous bestselling memoir The Kiss. Harrison's other writings include the novels Envy, The Seal Wife, The Binding Chair, Poison, Exposure, and Thicker Than Water, the essay collection Seeking Rapture, and the biography Saint Therese of Lisieux.

Presented by Ohio State's Department of English. Cosponsored by the Wexner Center.
