Examine urban architectural space and see how artists interpret such spaces in this symposium presented in connection with Vanishing Point. You'll also learn about the application of visual culture studies to both art and architecture. This program is for teachers and the public too. The symposium features presentations by Fabian Birgfeld, an artist in the exhibition; Claudine Ise, the exhibition's curator; Beth Blostein, an architect and faculty member in Ohio State's Knowlton School of Architecture; and Jack Richardson, a faculty member in the Department of Art Education and a practitioner of visual culture studies. This symposium will have great appeal for art, social studies, and English teachers (grades 6-12). You'll see how visual culture studies can enhance the teaching of art, social studies, and writing through the development of critical-thinking skills, while increasing your understanding of contemporary art and architecture.
