A royal family gathers for Christmas. The father broadcasts his seasonal message: he's giving up work and dividing his kingdom. With this misjudged act, the natural order is upturned and the scene is set for a story of family breakup, homelessness, and heartbreak. This 75-minute version brings King Lear’s vibrantly to life for schools, families, and younger audiences in a thrilling and accessible introduction to one of the greatest plays ever written. Each school performance is followed by a 45-minute workshop with the actors. This event is possible as a result of the ongoing collaboration between The Ohio State University and the Royal Shakespeare Company. Areas of Interest: Arts, Social Studies, Humanities, Geography, Language Arts/English, and Media Literacy For details and info on registration for this program only, please visit theatre.osu.edu/lear or call (614) 292-7258. Information about a professional development workshop for teachers on Saturday, October 27, is available at theatre.osu.edu/Learpd. Presented by The Royal Shakespeare Company’s Young People’s Shakespeare program and Ohio State’s Department of Theatre. Cosponsored by the Wexner Center.
