Talk by Carol S. Eliel Curator of David Smith: Cubes and Anarchy

This lecture introduces you to Cubes and Anarchy as part of our opening celebration.

Carol S. Eliel, curator of modern art at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art and curator of the exhibition David Smith: Cubes and Anarchy, offers an overview of the exhibition and its central thesis. Among the other exhibitions Eliel has organized are Annette Messager; L’Esprit Nouveau: Purism in Paris, 1918–1925; and SoCal: Southern California Art of the 1960s and 70s from LACMA’s Collection. In 1999 she was named a Chevalier de l’Ordre des Arts et des Lettres by the French government.

The galleries will open at 4 PM so you can see the show before the talk. Then stay afterward to preview all the new exhibitions (Sarah Morris: Points on a Line and Ernst Caramelle, as well as Cubes and Anarchy), visit with members and other arts enthusiasts, and enjoy light snacks and a cash bar, at the public reception from 6 to 9 PM. The talk and reception are both free and open to everyone.
