Artist Tyree Guyton, the driving force behind The Heidelberg Project, a renowned outdoor art environment in Detroit, discusses his work in one of the Knowlton School of Architecture's winter quarter lectures. A painter, sculptor, and "urban environmental artist," Tyree Guyton has exhibited his work at galleries around the world. But he is perhaps best known for The Heidelberg Project, which he began in the mid 1980s. This ongoing project has transformed its intercity Detroit street into a vibrant and thought-provoking installation/ environment, sparking international acclaim, along with controversy and discussion.
