Tomorrow, the Wex was scheduled to host a statewide gathering for Ohio Prison Arts Connection (OPAC), a coalition of people committed to building arts access for people in prison and re-entry, and to creating spaces for storytelling, resource-sharing, and dialogue both inside and outside of prisons.
OPAC has worked behind the scenes to create online programs for constituents as a replacement for the in-person event, and tomorrow we'll share links to find them here. In the meantime, Aimee Wissman, an artist and filmmaker who participated in the Wex's Pens to Pictures program and the founder of Returning Artists Guild, shares what OPAC has meant to her, along with a preview of the activities scheduled. As a member of the organization's steering committee, Wissman has been instrumental in creating tomorrow's online opportunities.
