Cartoon Crossroads Columbus is coming back! For our partnership for 2019 with CXC and concurrent fest SOL-Con: The Brown & Black Comix Expo, we have a slate of free programs that reflect the spectrum of comic art, starting with a September 25 reading by Ohio State professor Frederick Luis Aldama and his writing partner, University of Utah professor Christopher Gonzalez.

Enjoy some previews of other programs below.

On Thursday, September 26 at 4:30 PM and Saturday, September 28 at 1 PM, we're excited to present a British Film Institute program A History of British Animation, presenting 14 shorts created over the course of the 20th century. Check out an interview with one of the curators here.

On September 26 at 7 PM, we'll host a visit from animator Adebukola Bodunrin and graphic novelist Ezra Claytan Daniels, collaborators on the animated short The Golden Chain (pictured above).

On Friday the 27th at 1:30 PM, we'll have a screening of the doc Mr. Fish: Cartooning From the Deep End, about editorial cartoonist Dwayne Booth.

Friday at 4 PM brings Mike Mignola, creator of Hellboy, for a conversation with Bone creator Jeff Smith followed by a book signing. And at 7:30 PM, Captain Underpants creator Dav Pilkey joins us for a sold-out talk geared for all ages, followed by a meet & greet. Due to time limitations, Pilkey won't be able to sign books, but signed books and book plates will be available for sale.

Between the artist events on Friday, you can chill with fellow comics lovers during a reception at the Billy Ireland Cartoon Library and Museum, the internationally renowned cartoon archive across the Plaza from the Wex. It starts at 5 PM.
