• It’s been a big week for Wex news: the list of recipients for our 2021–22 Artist Residency Awards was announced and we secured a $100,000 grant to support exhibitions over the next two years from The Andy Warhol Foundation for the Visual Arts.
• Friday, the Vanderelli Room opens Whiteland, a group show organized by David Butler and featuring his work alongside others including Lisa McLymont, Marshall Shorts, and April Sunami.
• Gallery Hop is Saturday, with Daniel Rona artworks appearing at Sarah Gormley Gallery, a collage and sound installation by Craig Matis debuting at Sean Christopher Gallery, and more.
• Saturday from 5 to 10 PM, Lookout Supply will host an opening for its group show Smoked Out.
• Also Saturday, starting at 7 PM, you can log onto YouTube to watch the annual St. James Tavern Shorts Festival.
• Sunday brings the Doo Dah Parade back to the Short North after a year’s hiatus.

• It’s a long weekend for some of us: you can fill part of it catching up with this solid list of movie masterpieces from the streaming era. It includes Wex-presented films like American Factory from Yellow Springs filmmakers Julia Reichert and Steven Bognar, Atlantiques, and Minding the Gap.
• Or, for less of a time commitment, there’s this award-winning doc about Lusia Harris, the first women drafted by the NBA.
• Queer filmmaker and preservationist Jenni Olson was celebrated with a special award from the Berlinale. 
• It’s high time Mae West was recognized as the groundbreaking film artist she was.
• Christian Slater is the latest actor to take up painting.
• The National Endowment for the Arts announced two programs to distribute funds through the American Rescue Plan.
