Get ready for a gripping evening of true crime tales as bestselling author and Cincinnati Enquirer reporter Amber Hunt discusses her wildly successful podcast, Accused. Along with coproducer Amanda Rossmann, Hunt embarked upon a yearlong investigation into the 1978 murder of Miami University student Elizabeth Andes and the not guilty verdict delivered in the trial of her boyfriend Bob Young. Was the right person charged, or did the killer go free? The author of Dead But Not Forgotten and All-American Murder, Hunt has appeared on NBC’s Dateline and TruTV’s Crime Stories. Joining Hunt onstage as moderator is Fred Andrle, a poet, the former host of WOSU Radio’s Open Line, and an associate of Ohio State’s Humanities Institute. (program approx. 90 mins.)
After the talk, stay for a screening of The Central Park Five. Chronicling the aftermath of a horrific 1989 attack on a female jogger in New York’s Central Park, this riveting documentary follows the wrongful conviction of five juveniles (all people of color) for the crime, the sensational press coverage of the trial, and their eventual exoneration when the guilty party confessed. (119 mins., DCP)
