Billy Ireland Cartoon Library & Museum Grand Opening Festival of Cartoon Art

The Wexner Center is helping our neighbor, Ohio State’s Billy Ireland Cartoon Library & Museum, celebrate its move to a wonderful new, expanded facility in Sullivant Hall. The weekend festival includes an academic conference, programs with cartoonists including Jeff Smith, Paul Pope, Jaime & Gilbert Hernandez, Stephan Pastis, and Kazu Kibuishi, tours of their new spaces, and more! Many of the events will take place at the Wexner Center. Please visit for more detailed information on the festival.

Jeff Smith launched his company Cartoon Books in 1991 to begin self-publishing his now internationally renowned comic book Bone. He has won multiple Eisner and Harvey awards, and his work was featured in the exhibit Jeff Smith: Bone and Beyond at The Wexner Center for the Arts in 2008. Smith is an alumni of The Ohio State University, and his characters from Bone first appeared in his comic strip Thorn for the Lantern student paper. He is also the creator of RASL, and is currently working on a new webcomic series Tuki: Save the Humans.
