Zoom Family Studio: Ann Hamilton and Jenny Holzer

Left: Jenny Holzer, Inflammatory Essays (1979-82) Right: family crafting

Explore the work of influential, Ohio-born contemporary artists featured in the exhibition HERE: Ann Hamilton, Jenny Holzer, Maya Lin in the next Zoom Family Studio—a free workshop geared for kids and families.

HERE features new installations of Jenny Holzer’s earlier works, including her still timely Inflammatory Essays (1979–82), that employ her powerful, pointed use of language. The exhibition also showcases Ann Hamilton’s evocative depictions of a range of objects—from doll clothes to fossils—that become small memorials to the “spirit” of each item.

During the studio experience, families will have the opportunity to view the exhibition and bring in objects from home to create their own project incorporating images and words. Kids of all ages are welcome to drop in and out of the program at any time, but we encourage you to come early to have plenty of time to enjoy the event!

Offered in conjunction with films, performing arts events, or visual art exhibitions, Zoom Family Studios provide the opportunity to work with many types of art materials and techniques. Experiences in the galleries or in our theaters provide the inspiration for creative inquiry and exploration.

This event takes place 1–3 PM in the galleries.
