Cinéseries presents Stephen Winter’s iconic, award-winning film that follows a group of queer activists of color who expose political corruption around the AIDS epidemic.
Featuring elements of fantasy, tragedy, and comedy, Chocolate Babies chronicles an underground collective of HIV-positive New Yorkers who make headlines for their urban-guerrilla tactics. Staging surprise attacks against conservative politicians who are supposedly collecting lists of HIV-positive people, the group gets sidetracked by their infighting, extreme methods, and self-destructive drug and alcohol use. Discover if they will succeed in finding the peace and justice they seek. (83 mins., DCP)
Join the Ohio State student group in the café after the screening for refreshments and a casual discussion about the film.

In the words of Cinéseries’ members: Cinéseries is a student-led group that organizes monthly screenings in collaboration with the Wexner Center for the Arts. We aim to offer a space for students and the community to engage with film and expanded cinema from makers of a variety of backgrounds. We aspire to create an environment conducive to critical engagement by inviting filmmakers to showcase work that takes risks, challenges norms, and opens a conversation by devoting to a wide range of artist-centered and independent media.
