Cruising

(William Friedkin, 1980)

wex grid image fill

The notorious Cruising still remains more talked about than actually seen. Friedkin’s 1980 film features an intense Al Pacino as a young detective who goes undercover in gay leather bars to catch a murderer stalking the same locations. Even while shooting, the film was protested by activists concerned that the movie would negatively portray gay life in America. Since then, Cruising has been approached from a variety of angles, remaining one of the most discussed films of the period. (102 mins., 2K DCP)
