Join us for a memorable night of live music and film when Coupler returns to perform their soundtrack to a silent film noir by the great Yasujiro Ozu.

This stylish, rarely screened gangster tale centers on a career criminal’s love triangle and imbues the genre with all the psychological complexities of Ozu’s well-known domestic melodramas.

Founded in 2012 by Ryan Norris, a veteran of the beloved band Lambchop, Nashville-based group Coupler explores the intersections between man and machine, live and recorded, composed and improvised, stasis and flux. The band’s techno-organic sound provides an amazing complement to this silent treasure’s strikingly cool visual dramatics. (100 mins., DCP)

"The film has a playful, eye-catching audacity—it’s a feast of visual inventiveness, of clever angles and bold editing."
RICHARD BRODY, NEW YORKER
