A Disney hit from the 1970s, Escape to Witch Mountain remains a charming sci-fi favorite. An orphaned brother and sister discover they have special mental powers that allow them to move objects with their mind, transmit thoughts, and see the future. When a rich businessman (Ray Milland) tries to become their guardian to profit off of their talents, the children flee and begin a cross-country road trip (with the help of a crotchety Eddie Albert) to Witch Mountain, where they hope to find answers about their powers. Still entertaining after all these years, the movie remains a constant inspiration for fantasy and sci-fi films aimed at younger audiences. (97 mins., DCP)
