ACCESSIBILITY
Live captioning (CART) will be provided for this event.
We strive to host inclusive, accessible events that enable all individuals, including individuals with disabilities, to engage fully. If you have questions about accessibility or require an accommodation such as ASL interpretation to participate in this event, please contact Accessibility Manager Helyn Marshall at accessibility@wexarts.org or via telephone at (614) 688-3890. Requests made by two weeks in advance will generally allow us to provide seamless access, but the Wexner Center for the Arts will make every effort to meet requests made after this date.
For one night only, iconic film, television, and stage star Pam Grier comes to the Wex for a special reception and conversation followed by a screening of Foxy Brown.
During this unforgettable event, the center’s Director of Film/Video David Filipi joins Grier on Mershon Auditorium’s stage to discuss her storied career from the 1970s through the present. In this freewheeling conversation, Grier reminiscences about her early years in groundbreaking action films such as Foxy Brown, which screens after the talk in 35mm on Mershon’s big screen.
Following the smash success of Coffy (Jack Hill, 1973), Grier was cast in Foxy Brown’s title role: a woman out for vengeance when her government-agent boyfriend is killed by a drug syndicate. Connecting the killing to a high-end escort service, she goes undercover as a sex worker to enact her revenge. (35mm, 94 mins.)
To kick off the evening, join Grier, event sponsor Larry James, and other friends of the Wex in the Performance Space at 5:30 PM for a special reception with heavy appetizers and beverages. The ICON ticket gives you access to the reception along with the evening’s conversation and screening. Please note: the reception is currently sold out.
We’re honored to welcome Grier to the center for this spotlight on her singular career. This evening is the culmination of a Wex-organized film series that includes screenings of Coffy (Nov 2 and 10), Jackie Brown (Nov 4), Mars Attacks! (Nov 6), and Ghosts of Mars (Nov 9).
