Do Ho Suh’s Fallen Star (2012)—a house precariously perched on the roof of the Jacobs School of Engineering at the University of California San Diego—represents both a thrilling creative realization and remarkable feat of architectural design. Brunner-Sung and Stadler’s engaging documentary captures the years of planning, process, and collaboration behind this improbable artwork that has quickly become a visual landmark on the campus, home of the famed Stuart Collection of site-specific art. Codirector Brunner-Sung, assistant professor in Ohio State’s Department of Theatre, and renowned artist Do Ho Suh introduce the film and stay for a Q&A after the screening.
Presented in partnership with Ohio State’s Global Mobility Project, a Humanities & Arts Discovery Theme pilot project, and cosponsored by the Department of Art, Knowlton School of Architecture, and Department of Civil, Environmental and Geodetic Engineering.
