Fantastic Mr. Fox

Anderson (The Royal Tenenbaums, Moonrise Kingdom) utilizes classic handmade stop-motion techniques to adapt a classic children's book by Roald Dahl (author of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and James and the Giant Peach). Mr. Fox has a happy home life with his wife, son, and their visiting nephew. But this quiet existence proves to be too much for him, and he slips back into his old ways as a clever chicken thief. He ends up endangering not just himself but the whole animal community, who must band together to save Mr. Fox from the clutches of the neighboring farmers. The delightfully inventive film features an all-star cast of voice actors including George Clooney, Meryl Streep, Jason Schwartzman, Bill Murray, Willem Dafoe, and Owen Wilson. (87 mins., 35mm)
