The Films of Gordon Matta-Clark Program One: Fresh Kills

wex grid image fill

The late chainsaw-wielding artist Gordon Matta-Clark is best known as an "anarchitect" who literally deconstructed abandoned buildings and industrial spaces. Much less known are his works as a filmmaker, works that reveal his performances and installations more fully and create their own cinematically arresting terrain.

At tonight's program you'll see several newly restored films that document Matta-Clark's early performances and some of his best-known architectural "cuttings." Among the performances are Office Baroque (1977) and Bingo (1974), which captures Matta-Clark dividing a townhouse into nine sections. (Program approx. 86 mins.) support credits

Season support provided by the Rohauer Collection Foundation and the Corporate Annual Fund of the Wexner Center Foundation.

Contemporary films, international films, and visiting filmmakers presented with support from the Ohio Arts Council.
