The Fragments Project by celebrated director Peggy Ahwesh draws the viewer deep into the immediacy of personal filmmaking.
In the words of experimental filmmaker Peggy Ahwesh, “The reason I’ve never liked narrative is because traditionally narrative film has to have resolution.… And I’ve always been more into presenting a problem and getting you into an emotional place where you understand the calamity or joy or desire within a person’s life. It’s like a texture, or a mood, a moment.” With an eye towards the laughter, flirting, and fights that emerge in the cracks between takes, Ahwesh has assembled a portrait of a particular time and place and the individuals in the filmmaker’s life. (50 mins., digital video)
This screening is curated by Cinéseries member Andrew Mehall. Join Cinéseries after the program for an informal gathering in the café with refreshments to discuss the film.

Cinéseries is a student-led group that organizes monthly screenings in collaboration with the Wexner Center for the Arts. We aim to offer a space for students and the community to engage with film and expanded cinema from makers from a variety of backgrounds. We aspire to create an environment conducive to critical engagement by inviting filmmakers to showcase work that takes risks, challenges norms, and opens a conversation by devoting to a wide range of artist-centered and independent media.
