Gypsy 83 is the second installment in director Todd Stephens's "Ohio Trilogy," begun with Edge of Seventeen, the 1999 cult favorite.
Based on experiences growing up in Sandusky, the film follows two small-town Goth misfits--Gypsy, 25, an overweight wannabe singer, and Clive, 18, a skinny teen who favors black lipstick--as they head for New York in their '79 Trans-Am.
Their goal: attending the annual "Night of 1000 Stevies," where Gypsy plans to unveil her endlessly rehearsed Stevie Nicks impersonation. Starring Sara Rue (from TV's Less than Perfect), Kert Turton, and featuring Karen Black and John Doe. (95 mins.)
