In her newest short, Jodie Mack brings to life the generously curated collection of mineralogist Mary Johnson. Gems and other oddities including rock candy, crystallized magic markers, and the kidney stone of a horse are presented in quick succession by disembodied hands moving in a ghostly flicker. The program is presented in conjunction with the March 7 screening of Mack’s new feature film, The Grand Bizarre. (4:45 mins., 16mm film transferred to video)
