La galerie des monstres

(Gallery of Monsters, Jaque Catelain, 1924)

With live music by Alloy Orchestra

Crowd of people on stage

The internationally acclaimed Alloy Orchestra returns to provide its signature musical accompaniment to this recent restoration of Jaque Catelain’s La galerie des monstres—a perfect film for the Halloween season. In this eerie carnival tale, a young small-town couple falls in love and runs away to join the circus only to find their lives threatened when the creepy owner makes unwanted advances toward the wife. It wouldn’t be an atmospheric circus film, however, without a memorable cast of sideshow performers who band together and come to the couple’s aid. (80 mins., 2K DCP)
