(Thomas Riedelsheimer, 2017)
$6 members, students, seniors $8 general public
Perhaps best described as a landscape sculptor, Andy Goldsworthy assembles ephemeral works out of raw, natural materials: ice, leaves, grass, twigs, and stone. Often his still photographs are the only record of his creations—but sometimes they’re captured on film. A follow-up to the beloved Rivers and Tides (2001), the first pairing of Riedelsheimer and Goldsworthy, this new documentary checks back in with the artist as his projects have become simultaneously more ambitious (sometimes requiring machinery or a crew) and more fragile and personal. With a perfect, imaginative soundtrack by guitarist Fred Frith (known for his work with Henry Cow, Brian Eno, and Bill Laswell, among others). (93 mins., DCP)
