A compassionate tale of longing, resilience, and the human heart, this award-winning and visually stunning film explores the lives of three Buddhist monks living in the forested mountains of Korea. An Ohio premiere! Do-nyeom, a 9-year old abandoned by his mother to be raised by a temple master, yearns for the secular life of all the other boys in his school and looks for sympathy to his 20-year-old "brother" who is struggling with the prospect of an entire life spent without romantic relationship. A Little Monk gently builds to a heartbreaking conclusion of Do-nyeom's quest for an adoptive mother. (South Korea, 102 mins.) Although not expressly made for children, this film presents a child's perspective with great sensitivity. Subtitled. Some adult situations, mild language, and brief nudity. Please note: If you would like to discuss the specifics of any film before viewing it with your child, please call Shelly Casto, educator for school and family programs, at (614) 688-3986. series support credits Presented by Cardinal Health and the Ohio Arts Council.
