Experience the curious feminist films of Ohio State Visiting Assistant Professor Liz Cambron curated by the student group Cinéseries.
Liz Cambron is a filmmaker, storyteller, and writer whose work interrogates the difference between fiction and non-fiction and is rooted in a queer intersectional feminist practice. A video maker and educator born and raised in the Midwest, her moving image work is a tool to dissect, inspect, and shape social interactions and power structures. Cambron joined the Department of Theatre, Film, and Media Arts as visiting assistant professor in 2024. Join the student organization Cinéseries for this screening of Cambron’s films.

Cinéseries is a student-led group that organizes monthly screenings in collaboration with the Wexner Center for the Arts. We aim to offer a space for students and the community to engage with film and expanded cinema from makers from a variety of backgrounds. We aspire to create an environment conducive to critical engagement by inviting filmmakers to showcase work that takes risks, challenges norms, and opens a conversation by devoting to a wide range of artist-centered and independent media.
Liz Cambron incorporates ecological and relational narrative structures into her films to explore topics such as women’s labor struggles, sexuality in women’s lives, and magical realism as a method for deconstructing social structures such as gender and class. Her films have shown internationally and at esteemed venues including Slamdance Film Festival, Roots and Culture Contemporary Art Center, the Wexner Center for the Arts, and others. She has worked professionally and extensively in the documentary film industry on many award-winning projects. She received her BFA in Motion Picture Production from Wright State University’s prestigious film program and her MFA in Moving Images from the University of Illinois at Chicago where she was a University Fellow.
