Nicholas Ray's unique twist on the film noir, In A Lonely Place stars Humphrey Bogart and Gloria Grahame. This free screening is presented in conjunction with Member Apreciation Days at the Wexner Center. In a Lonely Place finds troubled Hollywood screenwriter Dixon Steele (Humphrey Bogart) trying to beat a murder rap while romancing starlet Laurel Gray (Gloria Grahame). Once an overlooked gem in both Bogart and Ray's filmographies, In a Lonely Place is now considered a true masterpiece. Fiona A. Villella of the online journal Senses of Cinema characterizes it as "one of the finest noir melodramas Hollywood ever produced" and "a film in which all elements—performance, story, score, lighting, and editing—work in complete concert to realize the emotional weight of its drama." (91 mins.) support credits Season support provided by the Rohauer Collection Foundation and the Corporate Annual Fund of the Wexner Center Foundation.
