Memory Screen Photosynthesis Directors of the Board

Tonight's screening features short films from Dayton filmmakers and skateboard entrepreneurs Alien Workshop, plus a compliation of board sport films from Emmy-nominated director Helen Stickler.

From Dayton's Alien Workshop comes excerpts from Memory Screen (1991) and Photosynthesis (2000), two videos that show the kind of experimentation that has fueled modern skateboard aesthetics.

Directors of the Board, the fifth installment of Helen Stickler's ongoing compilation of board sport films, prominently features skateboarding. Each of the works in Stickler's series celebrates a personal vision within the subculture and the sport. (1998Ò2001; 60 mins.)

Among the eight shorts included in tonight's compilations are Mike Mills's Deformer, Tobin Yelland's Thorn and Toad, Rich Charnoski's Skateopia and Dirtboading Skateopia, and Chris Johanson's Encinitas Realization.
