Robert Siodmak's My Schoolmate is based on an extraordinary true story. Ernst Marischka's Sissi is an extravagant Alpine romance. My Schoolmate is based on an extraordinary true story about a postmaster who writes a letter to his former schoolmate, Herman Garing, asking him to end the war. While in exile, German director Robert Siodmak became a master of Hollywood noir (Criss Cross, The Killers), and he brings that same skill to My Schoolmate. (1960; 94 mins.)

A huge international hit, Ernst Marischka's Sissi is an extravagant Alpine romance focusing on the Bavarian princess who falls in love with and marries the Austrian emperor Franz Josef. With Romy Schneider. (1955; 102 mins.)
