North by Northwest

(Alfred Hitchcock, 1959)

70MM Print | New Restoration

A man is running toward the camera in a barren field. He is wearing a gray suit. A small plane can be seen over his right shoulder flying toward him.

A new restoration of Alfred Hitchcock’s classic starring Cary Grant and Eva Marie Saint in stunning 70mm!

The Wexner Center is proud to be one of the few venues in the country presenting this newly restored 70mm print of Alfred Hitchcock’s spy thriller North by Northwest. Cary Grant plays innocent ad executive Roger Thornhill who is mistaken for a federal agent and suddenly finds himself on the run from murderous spies (led by the debonair James Mason). His flight takes him across the country, dodging a killer crop duster in a Midwest cornfield and scampering across Mt. Rushmore during the film’s climax—with the glamorous Eva Marie Saint along for most of the ride. With a great score by Bernard Herrmann and cutting-edge title credits by the legendary Saul Bass, it’s simply one of Hitchcock’s most stylish and entertaining films. Don’t miss this chance to see it on the big screen in a brilliant new restoration! (136 mins., 70mm)

Stick around after the film on Friday night for an informal post-screening discussion moderated by Wexner Center Film/Video curators.
