These Peter Lynch films chronicle one man's quest to build a bear-proof suit, and another's to lead a herd of reindeer across the arctic wilderness. Second feature start time: 8:30 pm. The most requested film in the National Film Board of Canada's existence, Lynch's Project Grizzly observes the endearingly odd quest of adventurer Troy Hurtubise, a man obsessed with building a fortified suit that will allow him to conduct "close quarter bear research." He tests out the homemade suit by such "scientific" methods as getting knocked over by swinging logs or getting beaten with baseball bats by drunken bikers. (1996; 72 mins.) An expert mix of archival footage and historical re-creation, The Herd recalls a six-year odyssey across the Canadian Arctic by a 62-year-old man leading 3000 reindeer. The cast includes such Canadian luminaries as Colm Feore, Graham Greene, Mark McKinney, and Don McKellar. (1998; 100 mins.) support credits Season support provided by the Rohauer Collection Foundation and the Corporate Annual Fund of the Wexner Center Foundation. Contemporary films, international films, and visiting filmmakers presented with support from the Ohio Arts Council.
