Purple Dreams

This inspiring documentary tracks the first-ever high school production of the musical The Color Purple, a Tony Award–winning adaptation of Alice Walker’s 1982 novel. Many of the musical’s themes mirror the lives of the at-risk students involved, and its story plays out through the lens of their struggles and triumphs during the play’s rehearsals and performances.
