“An absolute, drop-dead masterwork…A Quiet Passion will take its place as one of the great movies of the time.”—Richard Brody, New Yorker

One of the year’s most anticipated films, A Quiet Passion features Cynthia Nixon as Emily Dickinson in a performance that captures the reclusive American poet’s fierce individuality and sharp-edged genius. A Wex favorite and previous guest, writer and director Terence Davies (The House of Mirth, The Deep Blue Sea) creates a beautiful portrait of Dickinson and the tensions that both defined her life and inspired her transcendent work: her deep attachment to family and spirituality on the one hand, and her constant struggle with social convention and religious doctrine on the other. (126 mins., DCP)
