In The Salamander, two journalists (Jean-Luc Bideau and Jacques Denis) writing a television script about a shooting find themselves drawn to the young working-class woman (Bulle Ogier) who is both the lone witness to the event and the prime suspect. Tanner coauthored the screenplay with John Berger. (125 mins., 35mm)
