Catch a trio of exquisitely crafted short animated works by acclaimed experimental filmmaker Stacey Steers. Showcasing her labor-intensive process that makes use of paper, collage, and found imagery, this screening features Steers’s informal trilogy that comprises Phantom Canyon (2006), Night Hunter (2011), and Edge of Alchemy (2016).

Constructed of more than 5,000 handmade collages, this latest episode places silent film icons Mary Pickford and Janet Gaynor in a beautifully visualized, gothic upending of the Frankenstein story. The subject of a major retrospective at the 2015 Annecy International Animated Film Festival, Steers’s films have screened at festivals all over the world, including Sundance, Rotterdam, and New Directors/New Films, among others).
