After-party at AWOL | Saturday at 10 PM

“A fascinating and terrific film and a fitting tribute to a true subversive gay hero.”—Paper Magazine

Under the name Tom of Finland, artist Touko Laaksonen created proudly erotic drawings that shaped the fantasies of a generation of gay men, influencing art and fashion before crossing over into the wider cultural consciousness. But who was the man behind the leather? This luxuriously photographed and finely acted biopic tracks his struggle to break free from the repressive atmosphere of post-WWII Helsinki through to his eventual embrace in California during the 1970s. (116 mins., DCP)

Dress up and celebrate after Saturday’s screening! AWOL Bar (49 Parsons Ave) and Torso will host a party featuring a contest (with prizes!) for the best Tom of Finland look.

Community partners for afterparty: AWOL Bar and Torso Leather and Fetish.
