This delightful program from the New York International Children’s Film Festival celebrates Spanish-language and Latino-themed stories from around the globe. You’ll enjoy a wide range of shorts including the documentary Spelliasmous, about Harry Potter–obsessed kids in Cuba, and a cartoon about a girl who loves to dance—even if she’s stuck wearing a chicken suit. (65 mins., DCP) Recommended for ages 8 and up.
Program lineup Gina (David Diomedes Heras, 2018, 9 mins., Mexico) Jesszilla (Emily Sheskin, 2017, 7 mins., United States) Horse’s Stone (Cynthia Fernández Trejo, 2017, 20 mins., Mexico) Stardust (Polvo de estrellas, Aldo Sotelo Lázaro, 2017, 14 mins., Mexico) Spelliasmous (Ben Garfield, 2018, 3 mins., Cuba/United Kingdom) Mi Abuelita (Giselle Pérez, 2018, 2 mins., Guatemala) FISH (PEZ, Javier Quintas, 2017, 10 mins., Spain)
