Winter Kills

(William Richert, 1979)

35MM Print

A man wearing an unbuttoned checkered shirt is leaning over a person who is lying down with their head wrapped in bandages.

Quentin Tarantino presents a new 35mm print of this 1970s cult thriller boasting an all-star cast!

A thinly veiled take on the JFK assassination stars Jeff Bridges as the son of a wealthy and powerful patriarch (played by scene-stealer John Huston), a character loosely based on Joseph Kennedy Sr. As the story unfolds, Bridges finds himself following one lead after another while trying to unravel the conspiracy around who killed the presidentwho happens to be his older brother. The astonishing cast includes Anthony Perkins, Eli Wallach, Sterling Hayden, Toshiro Mifune, and in an unbilled and wordless performance, Elizabeth Taylor as a character inspired by JFK’s mistress Judith Exner. A forgotten gem of 1970s cinema! (97 mins., 35mm)

"The movie itself arguably makes more sense now in our conspiracy-pilled moment than it might have on its original release."
